First Day In West Virginia

We're sharing this post, so we thought we would label our comments so you will know who is "speaking."

Julie: After we picked mom and Kory up in Pittsburgh from their "red-eye" flight, we made a couple of stops on the 1 1/2 hour trip home. I'm not sure they were really up to it, but they made it. :-) Since Canonsburg, where we used to live, was on the way, we made a stop there. We showed Kory our old town and the house we used to live in. We spontaneously decided to stop at the Sarris Chocolate Factory there. It was sort of in honor of Papa, who was unable to be with us but really loves that place!

Julie: Sarris has such a colorful and fun shop and candy store.

Julie: The most incredible of their displays is an enormous chocolate castle all decorated with candy.

Julie: Millie enjoyed the gigantic stuffed animals.

Julie: I thought this teddy bear tea party was pretty cute.

Julie: Amelia and all the boys picked out one fun candy to take home.

Julie: I tried my first collage on http://www.picnik.com/ photo-editing site. These are of mom and Millie waiting outside of Sarris and trying out the candy.

Julie: Another experiment at photo-editing.

Julie: As we anticipated, Mom and Kory headed straight to bed when we got home and slept for several hours in the afternoon. They woke, shared our supper of Chicken Scampi and Lemon Noodles, and then watched the kids run through the sprinkler.

Jennie: It really was a fun day, even though we were pretty tired. It was hot out, so the kids had much fun with a simple hose and sprinkler. We sat on the front porch and watched them invent games and generally romp.

Jennie: Everyone dares to draw near while Benny is blocking the water....

and the older ones are trying to use their shields as water shields while the little ones run away pell mell.

Once safely away, Millie would squeal with delight and go back for another round of cool. It was also my very first night to watch the fireflies come out in droves. Every night after that would find me out on the porch just before dusk, at 'firefly time'. What a delight to be there at that perfect time of the summer.

I love fireflies too. They are just one of God's creations that we will probably never totally understand. I can just sense His smile, can't you?
